Forts and Tree Houses

We are on an adventure, as my son likes to say. Really, we’ve taken a family trip to the mountains. It’s been a lot of outside fun.

The kids have had a blast swimming, picking wildflowers for each other, building “fort cousin” in the woods and eating campfire s’mores. The adults have had fun entertaining the kids, cooking fantastic meals and staying up late laughing. It’s been a fabulous week.

Today we took a chairlift up the mountain and did a mini hike at the top. We walked down the mountain to a secret treehouse. Doesn’t the name just say it all?

It’s nice to be out of the city and closer to nature. Deer walk up and down the back of the property nightly. We spotted a bird nest built into the brush with tiny baby birds inside. All day we see the mother and father bird fly back and forth feeding the babies. The other day we saw a little skunk walk all the way up the hill right past “fort cousin”.

Tomorrow is our last day to enjoy all the amazing scenery and mountain activities. I’ve been taking lots of photos so I’ll leave you with a few of those.

  1. Beautiful pictures! Sounds like you are having a great time.

  2. That fort is amazing! Sounds like a great vacation

  3. Ha! I happened on your blog by chance (lovely!) and see that you are visiting where I live (The tree fort and the Pano bike trail "wildlife sightings" gave it away!) Glad that you enjoy it here - we're so lucky to be surrounded by so much beauty daily and to raise our children in such a great community!!
